Telefónica Tech Launches Perplexity AI Enterprise Search in Spain

Telefónica Tech, the digital transformation arm of Telefónica, has announced a strategic partnership with Perplexity, a U.S.-based developer of AI-powered search tools. This collaboration brings the enterprise-grade AI service, Perplexity Enterprise Pro, to business customers across Spain, as part of Telefónica’s expanding portfolio of AI solutions for the B2B market.

This partnership aligns with Telefónica’s long-term vision to deliver secure, productivity-enhancing AI tools tailored to modern business environments.

Perplexity Enterprise Pro: AI Search with Built-in Security and Privacy

Perplexity Enterprise Pro is designed to streamline corporate knowledge discovery and improve internal decision-making processes. It leverages generative AI to analyze and synthesize data from internet sources, proprietary business content, and customer-specific internal data, all in real time.

Unlike consumer-grade AI tools, the enterprise version offers verifiable responses, complete with source citations and multimedia integration. It also supports unlimited query refinement, allowing employees to fine-tune their questions and get tailored responses more efficiently.

Key features of the enterprise solution include:

  • Single Sign-On (SSO) integration for secure and fast access

  • SOC2 certification, ensuring high standards of cloud data protection

  • A user management system for efficient access control

  • Query deletion after seven days, enhancing data privacy

  • A strict no-training policy on customer data, reinforcing trust in the platform’s use

With this tool, Telefónica Tech aims to support organizations looking to integrate secure, AI-driven knowledge discovery across their operations.

Telefónica Offers Pilots and Full Support for AI Search Integration

To encourage adoption, Telefónica Tech is offering a three-month pilot program for companies interested in testing Perplexity Enterprise Pro before full deployment.

In addition, Telefónica Tech complements the technology offering with end-to-end professional services, including:

  • Customized onboarding and implementation

  • Technical support for integration and scaling

  • Personalized training to maximize tool impact

  • Continuous advisory to align AI use with business goals

This service layer differentiates Telefónica Tech from competitors, helping clients accelerate ROI while maintaining operational control.

Boosting Business Efficiency and Decision-Making

Alberto Sempere, Director of Services, Innovation and Partnerships at Telefónica Tech, emphasized that Perplexity Enterprise Pro will play a vital role in helping businesses streamline workflows. “The service enables companies to respond to complex queries in minutes, improving productivity while adhering to the most stringent security standards,” Sempere stated.

The AI platform is especially beneficial for sectors with high volumes of research and documentation, such as finance, healthcare, legal services, and enterprise IT. Its conversational interface provides intuitive, search-based access to data, reducing the need for repetitive manual research and internal documentation searches.

Strengthening Telefónica’s AI Strategy and Global Reach

This B2B launch builds on Telefónica’s growing collaboration with Perplexity, which began in 2024 when Wayra, Telefónica’s corporate venture capital arm, invested in the AI startup. That relationship expanded earlier this year with the rollout of Perplexity Pro, the consumer version—to B2C customers in Spain, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Colombia.

In Spain, Movistar became the first major telecom brand to embed Perplexity Pro across its mobile, fixed, and convergent services. Telefónica’s unified strategy across consumer and business markets reinforces its commitment to the democratization of AI in all customer segments.

Perplexity’s Broader Market Strategy and Enterprise Momentum

Emily Jorgens, Head of Enterprise Partnerships at Perplexity, praised the alignment between both companies. “Telefónica is a natural partner to offer Perplexity Pro because they deeply understand the needs of business decision-makers,” she said. Jorgens noted that businesses make trillions of dollars in decisions daily and require accurate, trustworthy answers to drive value.

This Telefónica partnership also comes at a pivotal time for Perplexity. The AI company is in active discussions with mobile manufacturers like Samsung and Apple to integrate its AI tools into devices and voice assistants. Additionally, Perplexity’s upcoming Comet browser—a mobile-first AI-powered browser—aims to compete directly with Google Chrome by offering real-time AI search summaries and task automation.

Backed by significant investment, including a $500 million raise that brought its valuation to $14 billion, Perplexity is expanding rapidly, and this Telefónica collaboration could serve as a blueprint for future enterprise deployments in Europe and beyond.

AI Search for the Modern Enterprise

The Telefónica Tech and Perplexity alliance underscores a broader shift toward enterprise-ready AI solutions that combine usability, privacy, and performance. With built-in governance and integration flexibility, Perplexity Enterprise Pro is positioned to meet the evolving expectations of corporate users.

As enterprises grapple with data overload, fragmented knowledge systems, and rising demand for quick, accurate insights, tools like Perplexity offer a path forward. Telefónica Tech’s deep industry knowledge and professional services give it an edge in deploying these tools at scale.

For Spanish companies looking to integrate AI into their digital operations, the arrival of Perplexity Enterprise Pro may be a timely opportunity to test, implement, and scale next-generation AI search.
