AST SpaceMobile has unveiled its space-based 5G broadband capabilities, achieving a new data rate of 14 Mbps, following successful 4G tests with AT&T and Vodafone. This was accomplished using the BlueWalker 3 satellite, in partnership with Vodafone, AT&T, and Nokia. This advancement underscores the potential of bridging 4G and 5G connectivity gaps globally. AST SpaceMobile’s patented technology will also be integral to their commercial satellites, with the first five set for a Q1 2024 launch.
EnterpriseWeb announced that it will premiere the first telco-grade demonstration of generative AI for network service orchestration today at Informaโ€™s Big 5G event in Austin, Texas. The company, which ran the telecom industryโ€™s first Network Function Virtualization proof-of-concept in 2013 and is known for its advanced automation capabilities, partnered with KX to enable next generation AI-powered Telecom operations.
Intel made headlines recently as it withdrew from the 5G laptop market, ceasing its partnership with MediaTek. This development was not entirely unexpected, as analysts pointed to the underwhelming sales of 5G laptops and Intel’s ongoing struggles with 5G devices.
The first Canadian mining operation to be completely linked via a 5G Wireless Private Network is Kirkland Lake’s Gold Detour Lake Mine, laying the groundwork for turning it into a Smart Digital Mine in the future. In addition, Rogers and Kirkland Lake Gold will bring more than 180 kilometers of network connectivity for the local community, with 8 new wireless towers along Highway 652, north of Cochrane, Ontario.
