15 August 2024, London: At MWC Las Vegas, CIOs and their teams from sectors such as automotive, aviation and manufacturing are set toย experience the power of connection atย North America’sย premier enterprise 5G event. Taking place at Las Vegas Convention Center, West Hall on October 8 to 10, 2024, MWC Las Vegas will bring together the enterprise IT ecosystem includingย CIOs, systems integrators, network architects, developers, technology leaders and mobile operators.

Tech innovators and industry experts will take to the stage to share their insights around this yearโ€™s event themes: Enterprise Transformation, AI Networks and 5G EdgeCloud.ย Attendees will hear from CIOs from the City of Las Vegas, the Metropolitan Airports Commission, Ontario International Airport, the Port of Oakland, Qualcomm andย SouthWest Airlines. In addition, speakers at MWC Las Vegas will include leaders from Boingo Wireless, Hogan Lovells, MeetKai, NVIDIA, T-Mobile, US Cellular, the U.S. Dept. of Defense, Verizon Global Services and Wiley Rein.

The Bay FC Professional Soccer player, Asisat Oshoala will join the GSMAโ€™s CMO Lara Dewar on the keynote stage. Returning to MWC Las Vegas once again,ย the GSMAโ€™sย Tech4Girlsย program, as part of theย EQUALS Her Digital Skill Coalition, will seek to inspire the next generation of female technology leaders. This program will introduce young women and girls to the professional digital world through workshops, career advice and seminars. During the show, students will have the opportunity to hear from female trailblazers, tour the exhibition show floor and learn how to kickstart a career in technology.

MWC Las Vegas will bring together experts and thought leaders to explore connectivity through aย series of summitsย including the CIO Summit; Enterprise AI Summit; Private Network Summit, GSMA Open Gateway and DevCon Summit; Telco AI Summit; e-SIM Summit; the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) Summit; and the Government, Homeland Security & Defense Summit.

This year, spanning the show floor,ย Connected Industriesย will showcase what Industry 4.0 can achieve now and in the future. Previously known as Industry City, it will feature everything from AI-driven aviation systems to IoT-enabled automation in manufacturing to smart city infrastructures.ย Connected Industries will host four summits across two show floor stages focused on connected aviation, connected car, manufacturing, and sports & entertainment. T-Mobile for Business, as the lead sponsor of Connected Industries, will showcase their latest innovative 5G solutions for the enterprise and government marketplace.

GSMA Foundry, the home of mobile innovation, will be at the GSMA Pavilion to showcase a new 5G/NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) initiative in partnership with Bewhere and Bell Canada. The showcase includes a technology demonstration about the future of mobile asset tracking at the Port of Vancouver, Canadaโ€™s largest and busiest seaport. The demo will show the potential for 5G and satellite solutions for global monitoring across land, sea, and air.

The MWC event series has long been known as the place to network and MWC Las Vegas is no exception. This year the Exhibition Networking Lounge and VIP Networking Lounge provide two dedicated areas that will bring leaders together in a bustling and collaborative environment.

Automotive digitization now hinges on 5G’s ability to deliver reliable, low-latency, and scalable connectivity that 4G/LTE cannot sustain for safety-critical use cases. Advanced driver assistance, cooperative perception, and remote operations require millisecond-class response and deterministic reliability across dense traffic conditions. 5G Standalone (SA) with Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC), improved positioning, and enhanced uplink meets these thresholds, enabling vehicles and infrastructure to exchange time-sensitive data continuously. This is the foundation for C-V2X, high-fidelity telematics, and closed-loop control that 4G/LTE struggles to support consistently. 5G enables dynamic traffic orchestration, energy-aware routing for EVs, and advanced safety services that can reduce incidents and congestion.
Google will pay a US$35.8 million (A$55 million) penalty and change how it structures Android default search agreements with Australian carriers and OEMs. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) alleged that Googles contracts with Telstra and Optus from December 2019 to March 2021 blocked rival search engines on carrier-sold Android devices via platform-wide default settings and revenue-sharing incentives. Google admitted the conduct likely lessened competition and agreed to court-enforceable undertakings to remove restrictions that mandated Google Search as the exclusive, out-of-the-box option across search access points (browser defaults, widgets, and in-phone settings).
The 4.44.94 GHz range offers the cleanest mix of technical performance, policy feasibility, and global alignment to move the U.S. ahead in 6G. Midband is where 6G will scale, and 4 GHz sits in the sweet spot. A contiguous 500 MHz block supports wide channels (100 MHz+), strong uplink, and macro coverage comparable to C-Band, but with more spectrum headroom. Beijing’s first World Humanoid Robot Games is more than a spectacle. It is a live systems trial for embodied AI, connectivity, and edge operations at scale. Over three days at the Beijing National Speed Skating Oval, more than 500 humanoid robots from roughly 280 teams representing 16 countries are competing in 26 events that span athletics and applied tasks, from soccer and boxing to medicine sorting and venue cleanup.
