Blackfoot Communications Selects FNT Software to Enhance Network Management

FNT will Support Blackfoot Communications’ Multi-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Fiber Project, Automate Provisioning Processes, and Consolidate Data into a Single Source of Truth through its FNT Command and FNT GeoMaps Platforms

New York, New York (June 6th, 2024) – FNT Software, a leading provider of software solutions for the integrated management of IT, data center, and telecommunication infrastructures worldwide, today announced its partnership with Blackfoot Communications, a leading provider of voice, broadband and fiber-based connectivity to homes and businesses in Western Montana and Eastern Idaho. Blackfoot Communications will utilize the FNT Command Platform and FNT GeoMaps application to document and manage its extensive communications network.

FNT Software will consolidate all copper, fiber, and logical records into FNT Command. As a centralized, integrated system for the management of all network and service resources, FNT Command provides all the information and functionality needed for planning, engineering, service fulfillment, and service assurance processes.

“We selected FNT Software to document and manage our communications network after evaluating a dozen or more of the most prominent network record systems on the market. We ultimately chose FNT for their Command Platform and GeoMaps application,” stated Ty Belnap, Network Engineering Manager at Blackfoot Communications. “FNT has been consistently helpful and informative. From the first call, through the proof of concept, to implementation, they’re a reliable partner we know we can count on. The software itself is intuitive yet powerful enough to accurately document both the physical and logical aspects of a service provider network. We are happy with our selection and excited to see the efficiencies their software will bring to Blackfoot Communications.”

“We’re pleased to partner will Blackfoot Communications and support their vision in delivering superior connectivity,” said Steve MacDiarmid, Executive Managing Director of FNT Americas. “FNT Command and GeoMaps are designed to provide a comprehensive and scalable solution that meets the specific needs of telecommunications providers. We look forward to a successful collaboration and to helping Blackfoot achieve their operational goals.”

The functionalities covered by FNT Command and FNT GeoMaps are extensive, addressing the specific needs of Blackfoot Communications. These include OSP Fiber Plant Records, GPON mapping and records, PON Design Automation, and comprehensive equipment records, which allow for detailed rack-shelf-slot-port documentation and visual rack views. The platform also supports easy-to-read DLRs and circuit records, providing physical and logical circuit tracking, primary and alternate circuit paths, and traceroute capabilities.

Additionally, FNT Command includes DWDM/CWDM, fiber characteristics, and site-specific information such as address details, notes, and photos. Integration with IPAM and Geo Spatial Mapping, particularly through the ESRI ARC GIS interface, further enhances the system’s utility. The solution’s growth and integration potential, bolstered by FNT’s Entity Manager and API Manager, allows for seamless integration with existing systems without extensive customization, a key benefit for Blackfoot Communications. Moreover, the platform offers cost-effective integration and licensing fees, making it an attractive choice for many companies.

With the implementation of FNT Command and FNT GeoMaps, Blackfoot Communications anticipates significant improvements in network management efficiency and data accuracy. This strategic partnership strengthens Blackfoot Communications ongoing commitment to connecting more homes, businesses and communities to fast, reliable broadband services.
