Bringing Next-Level Connectivity to America’s Pastime
From July 11 to 15, T-Mobile is delivering a full lineup of interactive, 5G-powered experiences during MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta. With features designed to enhance both the fan experience and event operations, the Un-carrier is demonstrating how robust connectivity can shape live sporting events. From real-time drone broadcasts to facial recognition entry and dedicated network slicing, T-Mobile is leveraging its advanced wireless capabilities to transform game-day experiences.
5G ABS Challenge System Debuts at MLB All-Star Game
For the first time at an All-Star Game, Major League Baseball is using a 5G-enabled Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) challenge system. Already a staple at the Futures Game for three consecutive years, this technology enables real-time pitch analysis. The system is powered by a private 5G network deployed through T-Mobile’s Advanced Network Solutions offering, part of its enterprise strategy. This low-latency connection ensures calls are challenged and verified swiftly, bringing added precision to the game.
T-Mobile has already rolled out private 5G at 28 MLB ballparks, with plans to extend this coverage to every U.S. stadium by the end of 2025.
T-Mobile 5G Batting Practice Show Offers Immersive Views
The T-Mobile 5G Batting Practice Show (5G BP) returns for its fifth year, now enhanced with cutting-edge camera angles and live drone footage. Featuring a 360-degree drone and 5G point-of-view cameras, fans watching from home will get unique perspectives from inside Truist Park and its surrounding Battery fan zone.
For this year’s show, T-Mobile is using network slicing to handle remote video production, streaming large volumes of data from Atlanta to the MLB Network studio in New York. The show goes live on July 14 at 6:30 p.m. ET on MLB.com and MLB’s social platforms.
Enhanced 5G Connectivity for Fans and First Responders
T-Mobile is boosting its network performance throughout Atlanta with Ultra Capacity 5G upgrades. During All-Star Week, T-Mobile is also debuting its T-Priority service, which uses network slicing on its 5G Standalone architecture to allocate extra bandwidth to mission-critical users, such as first responders and MLB operations staff. T-Priority can dedicate up to five times more network resources to maintain communication reliability during peak periods.
5G-Optimized Event Operations Behind the Scenes
T-Mobile’s 5G isn’t only enhancing the fan experience—it’s also improving stadium operations. MLB staff now benefit from Non-Ticketed Entry powered by facial recognition and network slicing, which ensures smoother and faster access for credentialed personnel. Meanwhile, photographers can upload game-day photos in real time over the 5G network, speeding up content delivery without needing wired setups.

In partnership with Fanatics, T-Mobile is giving away $1 million in Fanatics FanCash throughout the event. Fans—whether at the ballpark or tuning in from home—can enter to win exclusive merchandise via MagentaDerbyDrop.com from July 10–15. Connectivity Innovation Fuels the All-Star Experience
According to Mike Katz, President of Marketing, Strategy, and Products at T-Mobile, “We’re demonstrating the power of the T-Mobile network in a big way—delivering the first All-Star showcase of the 5G-powered ABS system, expanding the 5G BP show, and ensuring high-performance connectivity for both fans and MLB operations teams.”
This event illustrates how T-Mobile continues to evolve from a wireless provider into a tech enabler for large-scale entertainment, leveraging private 5G, network slicing, and low-latency systems to create seamless experiences for both consumers and enterprises.
The Future of Live Sports: T-Mobile’s 5G Expansion in MLB
T-Mobile’s efforts during MLB All-Star Week show the growing role of 5G in enhancing not just consumer entertainment but also event logistics, media production, and safety operations. As the carrier aims to bring private 5G to every MLB stadium by year-end, its model sets a benchmark for how mobile connectivity can support the future of live sports and immersive fan engagement.
This fusion of reliable wireless infrastructure with entertainment and tech-forward innovation underscores the evolving landscape of telecom and its increasing value in public venues.
