What are the next steps for FarmGrid – expansion into new states, climate-resilient agriculture, or integration with the broader food supply chain?
Speaker: Bhaskara
In the United States, there are approximately 900 million acres of farmland, and nearly 70% of it remains unconnected today. Our vision at Invences is to bridge that connectivity gap and bring precision agriculture—or what we call digital agriculture—to every acre of land. The goal is for every field to be monitored, every asset to be digitized, and every farmer to have access to real-time data for smarter decision-making.
We aim to convert most agricultural assets into digital twins connected through private enterprise networks or, where necessary, via satellite communications such as Starlink. This hybrid approach ensures coverage even in the most remote rural areas. Fundamentally, our mission is about “connecting the unconnected” to accelerate the adoption of smart, data-driven, and sustainable farming practices.
Another major focus is on collaboration with agricultural equipment manufacturers—often referred to as “Big Iron” industries. These companies build the tractors, harvesters, and field machinery that power modern agriculture. Our goal is to help transition their machines from manual to autonomous operation. By integrating SDKs or compact 5G dongles, farmers will be able to remotely control their equipment and even operate multiple machines simultaneously. This advancement optimizes time, reduces labor dependency, and increases productivity while lowering operational costs.
Finally, we are exploring partnerships with food manufacturing and processing companies to extend FarmGrid’s impact across the broader supply chain. As regulatory bodies such as the USDA emphasize traceability and transparency, there is growing importance in recording every stage of crop production—from seed sourcing and planting to the types of fertilizers, pesticides, or organic treatments used. Today, much of this knowledge exists informally as “tribal knowledge.” Our objective is to digitize and document it.
By capturing and sharing this data, FarmGrid can ensure that when food products reach consumers, their origins, treatment, and sustainability credentials are verifiable. This creates a connected and transparent ecosystem from farm to shelf, aligning with future goals of climate-resilient agriculture, traceability, and digital trust across the food supply chain.
