The Private Network solution also contributes to sustainability by improving operational efficiency and energy use.
How do you see private networks evolving to support green port initiatives and intelligent logistics?
Speaker: Fergal Concannon (Druid Software)
With Green Port initiatives, there are many areas ports must address to ensure they meet sustainability standards. This includes monitoring environmental impact, preventing discharges from vessels, and deploying environmental sensors to track and manage such activities.
Vision systems can now be installed in various parts of the port to provide high-definition video feeds back to centralized control points. These feeds enable the collection and analysis of data required for environmental and sustainability audits.
Ports can also use sensors to monitor noise pollution and air quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. For example, when ships enter European ports, sensors can help verify that they’ve switched from heavy fuel oil to cleaner diesel alternatives.
All of this contributes to keeping ports environmentally responsible and helps them remain good neighbors to the communities around them.
