LMT

Latvian tech company LMT Group will develop a dual-mode satellite IoT module in the next 12 months in partnership with the European Space Agency. This will enable devices to remain connected almost anywhere, addressing the "dead zones" – oceans, deep forests, and rural farmland – of global connectivity. The module will allow IoT devices to autonomously switch between terrestrial cellular and satellite networks (NTNs) without data loss or user intervention.
Winner – Private Network Excellence in Airports, Druid Software and LMT have deployed a private 5G network at the Freeport of Riga’s Baltic Container Terminal, replacing legacy Wi-Fi to support real-time tracking, automation, and secure communications. Using the Raemis™ 5G core and edge-based architecture, the system delivers high-performance, low-latency connectivity for one of Europe’s most dynamic logistics hubs.
Welcome to the TeckNexus Private Networks: Airports, Ports & Automotive Edition. Across transportation ecosystems, connectivity has shifted from an enabler to a strategic foundation. In airports, ports, and automotive environments, private LTE, 5G, and CBRS networks are delivering deterministic performance, real-time visibility, and secure operations—driving measurable gains in efficiency, safety, and resilience.

This edition showcases real-world deployments alongside exclusive insights from industry leaders shaping the future of mobility infrastructure. We also celebrate the 2025 TeckNexus Private Networks Award winners, recognizing organizations and partners setting new benchmarks for innovation and execution.

Through customer stories, executive interviews, and partner perspectives, the magazine highlights the power of ecosystem collaboration and introduces the Smart Airport and Smart Port Connectivity Blueprints—practical frameworks drawn from global deployments.

The message is clear: enterprises don’t invest in private networks for technology alone—they invest for outcomes.
Latvian telco operator and mobile innovator LMT completes strategic pivot, transforming from telco operator to technology company – LMT Group. The transformation was kicked off at the launch of IoT Shortcut, the world's smallest mobile data module for sensor equipment and LMT Group's latest product. As explained by Ingmars Pukis, LMT's VP & Member of the Management Board, LMT's shift from telco into a broad-scope technology companies ecosystem has been driven by limited market opportunities, the team's historical engineering DNA, and the introduction of 5G and its capabilities, among other factors. The Group now comprises several companies and branches, including LMT IoT, LMT Defence, LMT Systems, LMT Retail & Logistics, LMT Finance, LMT Innovations, and Santa Monica Networks.
Skyfora and LMT demonstrated a real-time, kilometer-scale GNSS meteorology grid running on LMT’s 5G network at NATO’s Digital Backbone Experimentation (DiBaX), signaling a new class of “network-as-a-sensor” capability for Europe. At DiBaX in Latvia, LMT’s 5G sites equipped with Skyfora’s Weather Engine streamed continuous atmospheric measurements derived from small, measurable delays in GNSS signals as they traverse humid air. The result was a rapid-update observation grid delivering near real-time insights into the evolution of storms, extreme rainfall, flood risk, and heat stress across large areas, without deploying new physical weather stations.
Winner – Private Network Excellence in Ports, Druid Software and LMT, deployed Latvia’s first private 5G network at the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Riga. Powered by Druid’s Raemis™ core, the network delivers ultra-reliable, low-latency connectivity for real-time operations, automation, and safety systems. This landmark 5G rollout improves productivity, enables green port initiatives, and sets a new global standard for smart port infrastructure.
