Host: Welcome to “TeckNexus TechTalk,” where we explore groundbreaking technological innovations. We’re thrilled to have Pauline, the CTO and Co-founder of NetInsight, to discuss their revolutionary work in time synchronization for 5G networks. Welcome, Pauline!

Pauline: Thank you. It’s great to be here.

Host: NetInsight is known for its leadership in media streaming and video transport. Can you tell us more about your journey into time synchronization in IP and 5G networks?

Pauline: Sure. Our journey began with recognizing the vulnerabilities of satellite-based systems like GPS, which are prone to jamming and spoofing. With the ongoing geopolitical crises, these vulnerabilities have become more apparent, prompting both operators and regulators to seek GPS-independent solutions for 5G networks.

Host: That sounds like a significant shift. How are you addressing these challenges?

Pauline: We developed a solution called PrecisionTimeNet (PTN) to meet these challenges. This system allows for accurate time synchronization over IP networks without the need for a complete network overhaul. It’s a solution that offers both cost-effectiveness and reduced complexity for 5G rollouts.

Host: That’s impressive! How does PTN work exactly?

Pauline: PTN disaggregates the synchronization function from the network transport. This means it can provide accurate time synchronization over existing IP networks without requiring every network node to be fully PTP aware. It’s a more open, interoperable, and secure way of achieving synchronization without the need for a full network upgrade.

Host: This must have a significant impact on 5G rollout strategies. Can you share any success stories?

Pauline: Absolutely. We first applied this technology in nationwide TV networks, which have similar synchronization requirements to 5G. Our collaboration with Turk Telecom has been a landmark project. They decided to use our solution for their full-scale 5G deployment. More recently, Free Sweden has also opted for our solution, highlighting its effectiveness in reducing the cost and complexity of 5G rollouts.

Host: This technology sounds like a game-changer for rural and nationwide 5G access. How can our listeners learn more about PTN and NetInsight?

Pauline: For more information, I’d encourage everyone to visit our website at netinsight.net. We’re always happy to discuss how our solutions can meet specific needs.

Host: Pauline, thank you for sharing these insights. It’s exciting to see how your work is shaping the future of 5G connectivity.

Pauline: Thank you. It’s been a pleasure discussing our work and its potential impact.
