The collaboration between NTT DATA and Nokia will enable a comprehensive, turnkey solution for Brownsvilleโs smart city transformation.ย Powered by Nokiaโs 5G radio access technology and NTT DATAโs Network-as-a-Service platform, the private 5G network will leverage band 48 CBRS spectrum, allowing the city to operate its own private wireless cellular network and reduce dependency on carrier networks.
This initiative is being rolled out in phases, starting with a city-wide network that connects four public parks, the Department of Engineering and Public Works center, and the international airport. Initial use cases include:
- Smart Infrastructure:In phases, NTT DATA will leverage new and existing data-collection devices to establish an Internet of Things (IoT) throughout the city.
