Rugged Galaxy Devices Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro Designed for Harsh Work Environments

Samsung has introduced two new enterprise-grade devices designed for professionals operating in harsh and high-pressure environments—the Galaxy XCover7 Pro smartphone and Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro tablet. These ruggedized devices bring military-grade durability, enhanced 5G connectivity, and extended battery life, making them ideal tools for frontline teams in industries like logistics, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and public sector.

With upgraded chipsets, stereo speakers, and software enhancements, these new Pro models are engineered for field workers who need reliable, high-performance devices that can keep up with intense workflows.

Durability and Mobility: Engineered for the Frontlines

Both the XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro come with IP68-rated water and dust resistance, MIL-STD-810H certification for shock and drop protection, and touch sensitivity designed for gloved use. The Tab Active5 Pro features Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ for added screen durability and an S Pen that works in wet conditions—ideal for technicians and inspectors working outdoors.

The XCover7 Pro is powered by a 4,350mAh user-replaceable battery, while the Tab Active5 Pro includes a 10,100mAh battery and supports Dual Hot-Swap functionality. This means batteries can be replaced without powering down the device, ensuring operations run smoothly without interruption.

5G and Wi-Fi 6E Deliver Seamless Performance Anywhere for Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Tab Active5 Pro

Both devices support Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, and network slicing—enabling secure, prioritized data communication even in crowded environments. Dual SIM support (pSIM + eSIM) further improves flexibility for workers operating across multiple networks.

With stereo speakers featuring anti-feedback technology, communication is clearer even in noisy conditions. These upgrades make the devices ideal for use in emergency response, construction, and warehouse environments.

The Tab Active5 Pro steps up screen visibility with up to 600 nits brightness and Samsung’s Vision Booster, which improves contrast and readability under direct sunlight—key for outdoor workflows.

AI-Powered Features Enhance Field Worker Efficiency

Samsung integrates intelligent AI features like Object Eraser, Circle to Search, and Read Aloud to simplify everyday tasks for mobile workers. These tools improve accuracy and reduce manual effort, helping teams stay efficient in fast-paced field operations.

Both devices support Samsung DeX for a desktop-like experience, allowing professionals to switch between mobile and desk-based workflows with ease. This is especially useful for handling reports, managing assets, or reviewing field data.

Customizable physical keys allow quick access to barcode scanning, push-to-talk apps, or emergency notifications—improving responsiveness in critical situations.

Enterprise Security and Compliance with Samsung Knox Vault

Security is central to Samsung’s rugged offerings. Both devices are protected by Samsung Knox and Knox Vault, which provide hardware-based encryption and tamper detection. With real-time kernel protection and advanced app-layer defenses, businesses can be confident that sensitive data stays secure, whether stored locally or in transit.

Samsung’s Knox Platform for POS also supports mobile payment processing on the Tab Active5 Pro, enabled by its front-facing NFC Tagging feature—ideal for retail and hospitality environments.

Smart Power Options for Field Teams and Fixed Installations

Supporting POGO pin charging, the devices can be easily charged using multi-device docks—perfect for field teams and service depots. The Tab Active5 Pro also features a “No Battery Mode,” allowing it to run directly from a power source, making it a practical choice for kiosks, vehicle dashboards, or fixed installations.

Release Timeline and Industries Served by Rugged Galaxy Devices

The Galaxy XCover7 Pro will be available starting May 8, 2025, and the Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro will launch in early June 2025. These devices aim to meet the growing demand in the rugged devices market, projected to exceed 6 million units globally by 2028.

Samsung’s newest Pro series highlights the brand’s continued focus on supporting frontline professionals with reliable, AI-enhanced, and future-ready tools.
