Verizon Business and KPMG collaborate to bring private 5G to KPMG Lakehouse

Verizon Business and KPMG LLP have collaborated as part of theirย alliance relationshipย to deliver 5G solutions designed to help transform the healthcare and life sciences sectors. KPMG has now deployed Verizonโ€™s Private 5G wireless network into its Ignition Center insideย KPMG Lakehouseย to further that collaboration. Building on top of this next-generation network, KPMG is creating a Healthcare Lab experience where clients can interact and experiment with the latest in healthcare technologies while helping to define their own future healthcare vision powered by Verizon 5G.

The Verizon and KPMG alliance is focused on developing a suite of solutions and use cases to enable seamless, reliable, and secure communications across the healthcare industry and help transform operations. These solutions will support the future of healthcare by creating interconnected hospital operations that optimize provider scheduling, support diagnosis activities, and simplify patient interactions to drive a better patient experience and increase insights into overall patient health, at home or at a medical facility.

The Healthcare Lab at KPMG Lakehouse, located in the innovative and strategically planned community of Lake Nona, has been designed to enable a next-generation digital healthcare experience for clients.ย Leveraging the latest emerging technologies, including Verizon 5G, the Healthcare Lab will create an immersive experience to ignite clientsโ€™ creativity and drive innovation.ย Innovations and topics explored at the Healthcare Lab include AI and computer vision imaging analysis, AR/VR for surgery planning, the enablement of sustainable buildings, and using technology to bridge the health equity gap. Each client experience is tailored and customized to meet the desired business outcomes with maximized benefit from these emerging technologies.

Virgin Media O2 is partnering with neutral host provider Freshwave to strengthen mobile coverage across 22 Haven holiday parks, aligning seasonal demand with targeted network investment. The project is part of O2s Mobile Transformation Plan, a multi-year program focused on improving capacity and coverage where traffic spikes. The upgrades span popular UK staycation destinations, including coastal and rural parks where coverage can be patchy and demand is highly seasonal. Four parks are live now, with the remaining sites phased over the peak travel window to improve both outdoor and indoor experience for guests, staff, and nearby communities.

Google will pay a US$35.8 million (A$55 million) penalty and change how it structures Android default search agreements with Australian carriers and OEMs. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) alleged that Googles contracts with Telstra and Optus from December 2019 to March 2021 blocked rival search engines on carrier-sold Android devices via platform-wide default settings and revenue-sharing incentives. Google admitted the conduct likely lessened competition and agreed to court-enforceable undertakings to remove restrictions that mandated Google Search as the exclusive, out-of-the-box option across search access points (browser defaults, widgets, and in-phone settings).
