T-Mobile's Affordable Home Internet Backup Plan

T-Mobile is set to provide a dependable backup internet solution for cable and fiber internet users with its new Home Internet Backup plan. This initiative aims to offer an affordable and reliable way to maintain internet connectivity during service disruptions.

Dependable Backup for Cable and Fiber Internet Users

T-Mobile has announced the Home Internet Backup plan, tailored for customers using traditional ISPs like cable and fiber. This plan provides a reliable 5G backup connection, ensuring continuous internet access during outages. As the fastest-growing home internet provider in the U.S., with over five million customers on its Home Internet and Home Internet Plus plans, T-Mobile is leveraging its extensive 5G network for this new service. The Home Internet Backup plan will be available from June 6 in T-Mobile stores and online.

Data from CivicScience indicates that nearly 20% of U.S. internet users experience service outages several times a month, often at inconvenient times. T-Mobile’s Home Internet Backup plan offers these users peace of mind by ensuring they stay connected during unexpected outages.

This backup service is designed for cable and fiber internet users seeking a reliable solution to maintain their internet connection at home during service disruptions.

Key Features and Advantages of Home Internet Backup

Cost-Effective and Convenient:ย The Home Internet Backup plan costs $30 per month with AutoPay, or $20 per month for customers with an eligible T-Mobile voice line. It includes 130 GB of 5G data per month, sufficient to keep a household connected for up to seven days during an outage.

No Extra Equipment Fees:ย Customers receive a 5G gateway at no additional cost, eliminating monthly equipment fees and making the setup both simple and affordable.

Quick and Easy Installation:ย The Home Internet Backup plan features a straightforward self-installation process, allowing customers to go from box to browsing in 15 minutes or less. In case of a primary connection failure, switching to the T-Mobile Wi-Fi signal ensures continued connectivity.

Expanding Connectivity with T-Mobile 5G

T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet, a fixed wireless service powered by the largest and most-awarded 5G network in the U.S., is available to over 50 million homes nationwide. For customers needing more than a backup solution, T-Mobile offers several home broadband options without annual contracts or equipment fees. The Home Internet plan includes Price Lock, which refunds the last month of service if T-Mobile raises rates and the customer chooses to leave within 60 days (excluding taxes and fees).

The Home Internet Plus plan extends these benefits, featuring T-Mobileโ€™s latest 5G gateway, a Wi-Fi mesh access point to enhance signal coverage, and 24/7 video tech support for Wi-Fi or smart devices.T-Mobile

Important Information and Terms

During network congestion, customers on these plans may experience slower speeds compared to others, with further reductions after exceeding 1.2TB/month due to data prioritization. After using the 130GB monthly data allotment, speeds will be up to 600Kbps. The service is not available in all areas, and a $35 device connection charge applies at the time of sale. Regulatory fees are included in the monthly price for qualified accounts.

The Home Internet Backup plan requires qualifying credit, an eligible voice line, and a new Home Internet Backup Internet line. If internet lines were canceled within the past 90 days, reactivation may be required first. AutoPay requires a bank account or debit card; otherwise, itโ€™s $5 more per line monthly. The Price Lock guarantee does not apply to the Home Internet Backup plan.
