Invisible infrastructure is costing telecom operators more than they realize. Hidden fibers, circuits, and equipment continue using power and budget without generating revenue, all because they slip out of inventory and operational records. This article explains how these blind spots form, why they persist, and how VC4’s Service2Create helps operators regain full visibility so they can cut waste, speed up delivery, and protect revenue.
LG Uplus is working with AWS on agentic AI that automates installation of cloud‑native network software, with early claims of up to 80% faster turn‑ups versus manual methods. LG Uplus and AWS partnered to develop an AI-driven approach that installs complex network software stacks without human intervention. The system uses Amazon Bedrock alongside AWS’s Strands-Agents SDK to orchestrate multiple cooperating AI agents. These agents are pre-trained on network design and implementation documents so they can execute the full workflow - provisioning cloud infrastructure, collecting device and network parameters, generating configurations, performing installation, and troubleshooting.
Telecom operators face rising costs and risks when network data can’t be trusted. From ghost circuits and delayed service activations to compliance issues and poor investment decisions, the impact is felt across every team. This article looks at why accurate data matters more than ever and how operators can build lasting trust with their network records.
Nokia and Boldyn Networks have launched a private 5G network at Callio FutureMINE in Finland, addressing underground mining’s toughest connectivity issues. The network supports autonomous vehicles, real-time visualization, and tele-remote operations, transforming safety, efficiency, and sustainability in mining. This deployment sets a global benchmark for industrial 5G use in extreme environments.
As the U.N. General Assembly convened, U.S. authorities quietly removed a dense cluster of SIM servers and cards that investigators say could have overloaded mobile networks and disrupted emergency communications across the New York metro area. Investigators seized more than 300 SIM servers and roughly 100,000 SIM cards distributed across multiple sites within 35 miles of the United Nations complex. Mass device farms can generate signaling storms that overwhelm cell sites and the mobile core, similar in effect to a distributed denial-of-service attack.
African AI Compute Is Moving Local. Telecom operators and digital infrastructure players are racing to stand up AI-grade capacity on the continent as demand, latency, and data-sovereignty pressures converge. MTN Group is negotiating with US and European partners to co-invest in AI-ready facilities and offer capacity to enterprises across multiple African markets. Cassava Technologies is accelerating its sovereign cloud strategy with five AI-focused facilities slated across key African markets in the next 12 months. Earlier this year, Cassava partnered with Nvidia to launch an AI data centre in South Africa powered by the chipmaker’s GPUs, establishing a reference for accelerated infrastructure on the continent.
The Small Cell Forum’s 2025 Market Forecast points to a market shifting from experimentation to scaled deployment, with enterprise demand and new business models driving a faster cadence. SCF forecasts cumulative small-cell shipments to reach 61 million units by 2030, supporting an installed base of roughly 54.4–54.5 million radio units and annual vendor/integrator revenues of about USD 4.23 billion. Indoor enterprise deployments continue to dominate, representing about 60% of rollouts in 2023–2024. SCF expects 5G SA small cells to grow at a 56% CAGR through 2030, with two-thirds of enterprise small cells co-located with edge compute by 2030.
Lumen has introduced Wavelength RapidRoutes, a pre-engineered 100G/400G service with a 20-day delivery SLA aimed at removing months-long bottlenecks from enterprise and hyperscaler connectivity. The company is packaging pre-defined, high-demand optical paths as a catalog of ready-to-deploy waves, removing custom design cycles from many standard routes. Lumen’s RapidRoutes offers 100G and up to 400G wavelength services on prioritized intercity routes with an industry-forward 20-day service delivery SLA, shifting the customer experience from quote-engineer-build to select-provision-activate on pre-engineered paths. A portal-enabled experience with AI-driven tools and more than 300 automated workflows underpins ordering, change management, and capacity scaling.
Maher Terminals has deployed Nokia’s Private 4G and Edge computing solutions to digitize operations at its 450-acre New Jersey facility. By partnering with Nokia and Future Technologies Venture LLC, the terminal now uses real-time data and rugged industrial devices to streamline cargo handling and enhance network reliability.
The telecom sector once hailed AI as a game-changer, but is it delivering? This article explores why many operators report low ROI on AI tools, and how legacy systems, cultural resistance, and regulatory hurdles stall adoption. Despite challenges, AI shows targeted promise in predictive maintenance, fraud detection, and 5G network slicing.
Deutsche Telekom will roll out a free 5G+ Gaming option for eligible Magenta Mobil customers starting autumn 2025, integrating GeForce NOW for on-the-go cloud gaming with consistent responsiveness and stability. The service runs over Telekom's 5G Standalone (SA) network using network slicing and L4S, with initial device support including Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra and the S25 series, and more handsets to follow. GeForce NOW brings access to a catalog of 2,300+ supported titles spanning major game stores, with additional install-to-play titles being added, and day passes available (Performance and Ultimate tiers) for short-term access.
Chesapeake, Virginia, in partnership with Boldyn Networks, has launched Chesapeake Connects, a city-owned private LTE and IoT network aimed at transforming public services, improving digital equity, and reducing reliance on commercial carriers. The hybrid system leverages CBRS for Fixed Wireless Access and LoRaWAN for citywide IoT, supporting smart city infrastructure like flood sensors, smart traffic lights, and more.
