Telstra CEO Vicki BradyBrady thinks the role of the operator is to become an “ecosystem builder” that brings together technologies such as 5G, AI, automation, edge computing, and “an explosion of applications”. She also warned that if operators don’t change, they run the risk that the “value created over our networks gets captured by others.” Indeed, Brady advised operators to get comfortable with the idea of not always being in control of the end-to-end solution.

Samsung Electronic announced that it has secured standardized 5G non-terrestrial networks (NTN) modem technology for direct communication between smartphones and satellites, especially in remote areas. Samsung plans to integrate this technology into the company’s Exynos modem solutions, accelerating the commercialization of 5G satellite communications and paving the way for the 6G-driven Internet of Everything (IoE) era.

T-Mobile Expands 5G Network Coverage

T-Mobile has achieved its year-end goal of covering 260 million people with Ultra Capacity 5G weeks ahead of schedule. Plus, the Un-carrier has now deployed an additional, new layer of 1900 MHz mid-band Ultra Capacity 5G spectrum nationwide to deliver greater speed and performance. T-Mobile’s overall 5G footprint expanded as well, now covering 323 million people.
