Eight French organisations — including Capgemini, Orange, EDF, Iliad and Scaleway — have formally united under the AION consortium to bid for an EU AI Gigafactory designation, backed by approximately €10 billion in committed investment. The bid targets EuroHPC's live call for proposals, closing June 23, 2026, and is designed to demonstrate France's ability to anchor the full AI value chain. For telecom and enterprise IT leaders, AION signals a structural repositioning of European operators as sovereign AI infrastructure enablers, not merely connectivity providers.
A European 6G-XR consortium led by Capgemini, Ericsson, i2CAT and Vicomtech demonstrated holographic calling and edge-anchored XR services on live standalone 5G, signaling how networks will evolve to support immersive collaboration at 6G scale. The team executed end-to-end trials of real-time holographic communication and distributed XR experiences spanning edge nodes across Barcelona and Madrid. To keep spatial media stable under cell load, the partners implemented proactive congestion detection and an on-demand quality mechanism that prioritizes holographic traffic. Notably, the consortium has referenced IMS Data Channel as a vehicle to anchor real-time holographic streams within operator service frameworks.
Enterprise demand is shifting from project-based consulting to managed, outcome-driven operations infused with AI and data. By combining WNS's scaled operations with Capgemini's consulting, engineering, and cloud capabilities, the company aims to capture this demand with end-to-end, AI-enabled "run and transform" offerings. The deal expands Capgemini's delivery footprint in India, strengthens its business services unit, and adds vertical platforms and playbooks that can be cross-sold to Capgemini's installed base in North America and Europe. For WNS clients, it opens access to broader transformation capabilities—cloud, data, and engineering—while preserving managed services continuity.
The Bethpage Black Ryder Cup turned a 1,500‑acre golf course into a pop-up smart city, giving HPE a high-stakes stage to showcase end-to-end AI, networking, and edge operations at scale. Golf is a network planner’s stress test: fans are constantly moving, crowd density swings hole-to-hole, and the venue is built from scratch for a few intense days. More than 250,000 spectators demanded seamless connectivity, broadcast-grade reliability, and instant digital services. This environment forced an enterprise-grade blueprint - fast deployment, elastic capacity, airtight security, and automated operations, mirroring the requirements of modern campuses, arenas, and industrial sites.
