Tata-owned Nelco has partnered with Eutelsat OneWeb to launch LEO satellite services across India, targeting land, maritime, and aviation sectors. The deal aims to deliver secure, high-speed, low-latency connectivity, support national security, and expand coverage to remote areas. Pending spectrum allocation, Nelco will be ready to offer services once OneWeb’s India network goes live.
Vodacom Group and Airtel Africa have signed a strategic infrastructure sharing agreement in Mozambique, Tanzania, and the DRC. The deal—pending regulatory approval—will enable fiber and tower sharing to accelerate 4G/5G rollout, cut infrastructure costs, and expand coverage in underserved regions, driving Africa’s digital inclusion agenda.
Amphenol is acquiring CommScope’s broadband and fiber connectivity business in a $10.5 billion all-cash deal, its largest acquisition to date. This move boosts Amphenol’s presence in network infrastructure, expanding its portfolio of fiber, copper, and wireless solutions. The acquisition comes as global demand rises for high-speed, low-latency networks supporting AI, 5G, IoT, and smart city deployments.
Ooredoo Maldives has launched the nation's first private 5G island at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi by deploying a dedicated submarine cable. This infrastructure milestone provides high-speed, low-latency connectivity, enabling AI-powered guest services, immersive AR/VR experiences, and seamless digital hospitality. It sets a benchmark for smart tourism in the Maldives and redefines digital luxury for remote island resorts.
Nokia is shifting its core focus from mobile networks to AI infrastructure and optical networking amid declining RAN revenues and financial pressures. In Q2 2025, the Network Infrastructure division surpassed Mobile Networks, driven by demand from data centers and hyperscalers. With CEO Justin Hotard emphasizing AI integration and enterprise 5G, Nokia is repositioning itself for long-term growth while maintaining its mobile presence as a strategic layer.
The NTIA has approved all 56 U.S. states and territories to move into the “Benefit of the Bargain” round under the $42.45B BEAD Program. This competitive subgrantee selection phase streamlines broadband deployment nationwide by allowing fiber, fixed wireless, and satellite providers equal footing under new, tech-neutral NTIA rules. Final proposals are due by September 4, 2025, as the U.S. pushes toward universal internet access.
Many fiber rollouts stumble before trenching begins, not in the field, but in flawed planning rooms. This article uncovers why approved designs collapse under real-world conditions, how disconnected inventories and outdated GIS layers set projects up for failure, and why simulation, permitting, and collaboration must start early. Learn how telecom teams can replace static spreadsheets with live intelligence—and why VC4's Service2Create rewrites the rules of fiber network planning.
Charter Communications warns of a 200% increase in targeted fiber attacks across Missouri in 2025, calling them acts of domestic terrorism. With 148 outages already reported, these incidents have crippled emergency services, hospitals, and financial systems—raising alarm over national infrastructure vulnerabilities and sparking legislative debate.
Connected aviation is reshaping airports into smart, seamless ecosystems inside and outside the terminal. This case study reveals how hubs like Changi, Schiphol, and SAN use private networks, IoT, and cross-team collaboration to improve passenger flow, airside operations, sustainability, and safety.
Tulsa International Airport (TUL) has deployed a dedicated private cellular network with Communication Technology Services (CTS), replacing legacy Wi-Fi and fiber systems. The network provides secure, low-latency connectivity for airfield operations, surveillance, and perimeter gates while creating a foundation for AI-driven automation, autonomous vehicles, and next-generation airport infrastructure.
